A difficult situation. Ectopic pregnancies often occur secondary to scarring caused by prior infection, inflammation, or surgery that narrows or obstructs the Fallopian tubes. Ovulation is necessary to conceive. A fertility specialist can prescribe medicines to aid in ovulation and also can investigate the underlying cause of the ectopic pregnancy. In vitro fertilization may be necessary.
