Dx obst sleep apnea in 2019.if not using cpap may awaken with a single grating inhalation (stridor?) followed by normal breathing.internet says stridor not typical in osa &suggests mult syst atrophy.no other obvious symptoms of msa.cause for concern?

True stridor in an adult is usually caused by vocal cord or tracheal abnormalities. You may have experienced a simple transient wheeze caused by mucus but if recurring episodes are noted, I'd recommend consulting an otolarygologist for evaluation and advice Appropriate testing will be done if deemed advisable.

Gasping during sleep and nocturnal awakening is a sign of sleep disturbance. Nasal passages should be kept clear with saline. A virtual consult with Healthtap is available. Discuss the reasons that you are not using the CPAP with the Pulmonologist.
