Body works in a unique way. If disc displacement was not affecting functionality for 17 years, most likely, there has been a compensation response. Unless a new injury occurs, no new pathological changes are expected. This is the usual. A different course of events is possible. Workup with examination and MRI may reveal. Does it help?

Usually, a displaced disc loses its fluid content and is less flexible with time. In most cases, the spine adapts well to it. It predisposes the spine towards dysfunction but not in all cases. it does not tear up blood vessels. It may affect nerves, . In general, the spine is too complex to say it will do this or that to a patient, that patients specific examination provides a unique answer.
