A member asked:

If you've had bells palsy in the past do you have more of a risk of getting it as a side effect of vaccine and if so would it increase the odds of severe bells palsy?

Although cases of Bell's palsy were reported after covid vaccination the evidence that the vaccine caused it was not compelling according to the FDA. . I don't think your chances of getting facial nerve palsy after covid vaccination is any higher than anyone who never had Bell's palsy and the CDC does not consider a history of Bell's palsy to be a contraindication.

There is no relationship with Bell's palsy and COVID-19, and the vaccine does not cause Bell's palsy, as a side effect, so, your odds are zero.
