It could be a muscle sprain or a strained ligament. I doubt any internal knee derangement if there's no swelling. Refraining from further stress on the knee for a week or so should result in resolution of your symptoms.

If it is already feeling better, that is a good sign. Give it rest, and time to heal, and expect resolution in 2-3 weeks. If persists, or worsens, then consider evaluation.
