Heat causes vasodilation of the blood vessels. If you had not fully healed from any damaged blood vessels injured during the injection, you would risk increased bleeding in the area initially. This is why ice is used instead to limit bruising, as it has the opposite effect. After 6 hours you would be safe for the heating pad but limit the duration to no more than 15 minute intervals.
