When a person has flared ribs does it usually affect both sides or can it affect one?

I have seen patients with flared lower rib cage on only one side and it is usually the left side.

I am not sure what is wrong. Flared ribs can be from several things. There are autoimmune that affect both sides. Often posture-related scoliosis can affect one side.
