A member asked:

Why are caucasions prone to skin cancer?

5 doctors weighed in across 2 answers

Caucasians lack pigment protection from the effects of ultra violet and other radiation from sun exposure, so use of medications with sun block (above 30) is protective.

Less melanin which is a skin pigment that protects from skin cancer caused by UV light damage. If you use sunscreen, make sure that it is zinc or titanium based. The regular sunscreens without zinc or titanium prevent the sunburn but not the damage to the DNA of the skin cells resulting in higher rates of skin cancer. Avoid sunscreen containing benzene, a known carcinogen.
