Mild elevations of Bilirubin in the absence of Liver disease(normal SGOT/SGPT) is a well known congenital abnormality which goes by the name Gilbert Syndrome. it is harmless condition, so no further testing is required. It's important to know whether the direct or indirect fraction ( or both) of the bilirubin is elevated and if the rest of the liver panel is normal in order to advise you. Your physician, who knows this information, is best to answer your question. Indirect bilirubin elevation is seen in a hereditary condition called Gilbert's syndrome & in hemolytic anemia as opposed to liver damage or stones
