It is probably talking about the ascending colon, there is air in the colon like in gas. It does not mean anything specifically just talking about report of the X ray and probably because they did not have more information of why the X ray was done could not give a conclusion. The colon has ascending arm and descending arm. Gas in the colon made by bacteria may cause gas pain.
