I am taking sucralfate 1gm 4-times daily for possible ulcer .. after 5 days of taking i have developed swollen parotid glands .. you can visually see the swelling ... swollen for 3 days now ... could the medicine be the problem ? ... i am 72 .?

It looks as if you may be right, that Sucralfate could cause facial swelling and could cause dry mouth. Sucking on lemon and frequent rinsing of mouth may help or you may want to have your doctor reevaluate your medication for a change.

Facial swelling is listed as one of the side effects of this medication. As allergic reactions in or around airway can be problematic, important that you discuss this with your prescribing Physician.
