A borderline test ("home" testing) can be verified by obtaining a serum HCG test to be certain about pregnancy. Low levels of pregnancy hormone can occur with pregnancies outside of the uterus (ectopic), so see your gyn physician if the HCG test is positive.

It is imperative that you read the pregnancy test result within the prescribed time frame. Result read at a longer time than recommended are not reliable.
