A member asked:

When taking methyiprednisolone 6 day package, is it safe to drink alcohol moderately?

No. Alcohol is a poison that never did anybody any good, ever, so stay away from it. It will destroy your brain cells, damage testicular cells that make testosterone, facilitate development of cancer in many organs, cause hepatitis, cirrhosis and pancreatitis etc. There is no safe level of alcohol intake. Quit while you are ahead.

Alcohol irritates the stomach(gastritis), and taking a steroid medication increases the risk of gastritis. Best to avoid alcohol when taking methylprednisolone. Other meds to avoid include aspirin, ibuprofen(Motrin), naproxen(Aleve) and other non steroidal anti inflammatory meds (NSAIDS). Acid blocking medications will prevent or treat gastritis. OTC:famotidine(Pepcid), omeprazole(Prilosec)
