A member asked:

After having abdominal pain and discomfort, i was diagnosed with sludge in gallbladder and i'm advised to go through cholecystectomy. looking for a second opinion, is it absolutely necessary to remove my gallbladder through surgery and why?

If your attacks of abdominal pains result in inflammatory complications,or if you have repeated attacks despite avoiding fried&fatty foods, you run the risk of acute cholecystitis or even pancreatitis. It's a time bomb. In this setting gall bladder removal seems indicated&most get it done. However I'm a great believer in obtaining second opinions &think you should consult another abdominal surgeon
