The Microgestin pill is made to be taken for the full 28 days. Since you skipped the "sugar" pills (which are the only pills that do not contain hormone), you did not give your body a chance to slough off the uterine lining (Period). Starting right away on the hormone pills will suppress your period, but you are still protected from pregnancy.
