Oral contraceptives containing estrogen are not advisable during breastfeeding. It can cause a decrease in the milk and some of the chemicals can be transmitted to your child. Better options are the progesterone only mini-pill, Depo shot or implant. Since there only contain progesterone, there is little to no effect on milk production and no transmission to the child.
