How can you tell if your dura was punctured during an epidural steroid injection?

Most "accidental" punctures are not significant and heal quickly w/o symptoms. A severe headache usually accompanies any significant dural tear, but simple needle punctures may just produce a "shock" like brief sensation.

The most common consequence involves a post-lumbar puncture headache, which is worse on standing.
