A member asked:

Which infections might you look for in a patient who tested positive for chlamydia sti, then later severe reactive arthritis, then clumping caudal nerve roots w/ symptoms. chlamydia treated but symptoms persist. thank you?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

While arthritis is uncommon with gonorrhea, it does occur. If your culture was not specific for gonorrhea, another culture is indicated. Treatment with a cephalin derivative and Zithromycin is usually effective with diminished symptoms within 8-10 days.
