Taking one iron pill will not do any damage, other than mild stomach upset. 17 mg may not be sufficient to make up iron deficiency, if you have one. Depending on the severity of deficiency and your response to oral iron, you doctor may consider giving you all the needed iron in one intravenous infusion. Wish you good health!
