A member asked:

Hello. are there any conditions that might present like heds without apparent hypermobility? additionally, can hypermobility ever result in stiffening/a lost range of motion in the affected joint(s)? can crepitus result from hypermobility? thank you?

hEDS is a complicated, not very well studied syndrome affecting not just joints, but heart, GI, skin, and the autonomic nervous system. Because the symptoms can be so varied (TMJ, Chronic fatigue, joint/muscle pain, osteoarthritis, headaches) it can mimic many other disorders. Finding a good specialist who can do a thorough evaluation is vital for persons who suspect hEDS.
