A member asked:

I am 12 weeks pregnant and had gas stove exposure 5 minutes. then i turned fire on.smell was in kitchen and then rooms. could it harm my baby? as far as i know it's propane and methane. but some co burns while you set fire to stove. worried?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

First, if the gas in the stove was "on for five minutes" prior to "then turning the fire on", the chance for an explosion would indicate ventilation is necessary to dispel the gas as a first step. Transmission adversely to a 12 week fetus is unlikely, but inform your OB physician of the circumstances so adequate followup can proceed closely.
