Similar: Very similar to children. Inattention, not able to complete work, difficulty following directions. Unable to thrive in normal social situations. Difficulty maintaining a relationship.

A life time history: Of distractibility, inattention, forgetfulness, time mismanagement, procrastination, day dreaming, disorganization, resulting in academic underachievement and later trouble at work. History of break-ups of romantic relationships is frequent. Girls r more "inattentive type" & boys more "hyperactive" in childhood. Often adhd condition runs in families & substance abuse history may co-exist.

Careful assessment : It can be difficult to tease out add from anxiety or normal life situations. But if you often find yourself easily bored, unable to follow the flow of a conversation, reading an article over and over and not "getting it, " starting and quitting projects, teachers told you "you are smart but don't apply yourself, " losing keys, never finished a book, often late, spacing out a lot...Think add.
