A member asked:

I just had gallbladder surgery 6 weeks ago and i just had a blood test and my placelet was 405 is that reason to be concern?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, a high platelet count could be due iron deficiency from blood loss at surgery. Take oral iron and multivitamin supplements and retest in 6 months. Wish you good health!
