For persistent hematuria if CT and US are negative, the next step will be cystoscopy even you have to wait 6 months. If cystoscopy is negative, you will be referred to a nephrologist. Kidney biopsy should be done if you have both proteinuria and hematuria, even your kidney function is still normal. For microscopic hematuria alone, we can just watch especially with positive family history.
