Fracture is always painful than sprain. You are less likely able to walk when you have fracture.

MANY OF US HAVE HAD SPRAINS THAT SWELL AND HURT AND WITH SOAKING AND A SPLINT BANDAGE IT GOES AWAY. A BROKEN ANKLE CAUSES MORE PAIN AND SWELLING AND POSSIBLE SURGERY.

I have to disagree with the other opinions. There are times when if the injury is severe enough and you rupture the nerve in the nerve endings they can give you a false sense of security and not being very painful. That doesn’t mean the injury is that extensive in fact just the opposite. If you’re the game doctor and you witness a severe injury and they don’t have pain not a good sign
