A member asked:

I took a stool earlier today and the toilet water was bright red. that seems like a lot of blood. there was also a patch of bright red "blood" temporarily stuck to the toilet ceramic under the water. no pain or discomfort, is this a hemorrhoid?

I cannot examine you to say. Show to your local Cr. Blood in stool bowl always looks like more than it is. Take pictures to show to Dr.

Any pain, swelling, or as in your case bleeding requires investigation. To diagnose you require clinical examination, possible imaging, possible lab tests. See your GP or Urgent care to begin the investigative process.

Bright red blood indicates the lesion or source of b bleeding is close to the anus, so your thought of hemorrhoids is quite possible.. There are treatments for hemorrhoids that you PCP could recommend. Also need evaluation to determine if bleeding may originate futher up in the colon.
