Sounds like you probably are noticing circumvallate papillae, which are entirely normal -- everybody has several of them (usually 7 to 11) in a row on the back of the tongue. Google it for more information and typical photos. White coating of the tongue also is usually normal. See a doctor if you remain concerned.
