Cellulitis is an infection in the skin. If the bacteria causing the cellulitis is sensitive to the antibiotic you were prescribed, then your symptoms should begin to improve over the next few days. It may take a while for it to completely resolve. But, if it is not getting better or if it begins to look worse, then go back to your doctor right away. Avoid further sun exposure until it resolves.

I agree with Dr.F. Have your physician reexamine you. He/she may refer you to a specialist in infectious diseases. The description of the involved skin(purplish red with tiny blistering) isn't typical of simple cellulitis. Some toxic or venomous component along with the severe pain suggests a bite of some type was involved. Are poisonous snakes endemic in your rivers?
