A member asked:

5 days ago i noticed my left armpit was swollen evenly across the entire armpit which has not subsided. no obvious lumps or lymph node swelling. there is mild pain but nothing major. is this most likely muscular or something for concern?

The tissues underneath that site contain sweat & odor producing glands and lymph nodes. An infection or other swelling in any of these can trigger swelling in the area. An exam and possibly testing would be required to sort out the cause. There are no muscle elements that would do this in that area.

It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. If the swelling is not subsiding, you get fever, develop additional swelling and pain, it would be prudent to see a doctor. Wish you good health!
