I was stopped at a red light behind a car for about 2 mins and i could smell exhaust. the smell was overwhelming and it was hard to breathe, i had my window open but after i felt nauseous and had a sore throat. should i worry about long term damage?

You are exposed to such vapors in a much more limited way any time you walk along a busy street. Your body can handle what you describe with no problem. Did you have your mask on? Worry about something else !!
