A member asked:

How long does metoprolol tartrate take to get out of your system completely if you are a poor metabolizer? im asking because i have an echo stress test coming up and i need to know how long it stays in my system. thank you?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

The mean elimination half-life of metoprolol is 3 to 4 hours; in poor CYP2D6 metabolizers the half-life may be 7 to 9 hours. It takes 4 half lives to be out of your system. Therefore, it a poor metabolizer would be rid of the drug in 28 to 36 hours. Approximately 95% of the dose is excreted in the urine.
