Achalasia is a poorly understood condition affecting esophageal motility and swallowing. Majority of cases an immediate cause cannot be found, it has to do with the nervous wiring of the esophagus. Rarediseases.org has reliable information and resources to review.

Agree with Dr. P. Please be reassured knowing that it is treatable. GI doctors usually treat it balloon dilatation of the lower end of esophagus. Wish you good health!
