This could be related possibly to nerve compression. Often the source of nerve root compression/irritation is where they exit at the Lumbosacral spine esp. L3-4, L4-5, and L5-S1, leading to symptoms of sciatica. There are other reasons for numbness as well such as neuropathy (often with diabetes). Arterial disease can be another reason. Areas of narrowing within blood vessels can be another.
