A member asked:

I am 13w pregnant and took the nipt when i was 12w . it was a redraw; i came back low risk but sex and sca assessment was inconclusive. my fetal fraction the first test was 5.3% and dropped to 4.1. nt scan was normal. should i be worried about my ff?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Reasonable reliability for NIPT testing is done with fetal fractions 4% or higher. If the NT scan was normal, the risk of trisomy 21 is very low. Borderline fetal fractions may require amniocentesis or placental biopsy to accurately determine trisomy 13,18 or 21.
