As general rule muscle growth and improved tone are stimulated by weight training the muscle. Meaning working the muscle to fatigue ( the point that it becomes hard to do the exercise and maintain proper form) and gradually increasing the resistance and/or the number of repetitions. One must be careful to avoid overuse injury. Muscle size gains are limited in woman vs men related to testosterone.
