A member asked:

Got iron test done. iron was 37, transferrin was 309.0 but iron saturation was only 9. what does this mean and should i be worried?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, your results suggest iron deficiency and inflammation. A more meaningful opinion would require an in-person evaluation. Wish you good health!
