If this does not go away, you can try taking an antacid once or twice to see if it may be due to excessive acid. If the symptoms increase over the next 2-3 weeks then go see your family doctor for a check up.

One possible condition is asthma, which may cause the symptom of chest tightness. This is more common among younger patients with allergies and a family history of asthma. Discuss the possibility of GERD and/or asthma with your PCP. Avoid heavy lifting and watch for shortness of breath and cough.
