I was diagnosed with hpv 35 and 39 (high risk). the doctor advised that theres no cure but that hpv could be clear over time. she recommended aciclovir tabs (200mg) to be taken over 7 days. can i continue to take this med until the hpv clears?

HPV is a family of virus strains well known for their ability to hibernate in the body after the primary infection clears. In most people your immune system clears the primary infection so you cannot spread it within 2 years with no medication. Acyclovir may reduce the growth/spread of the virus but not change its ability to hibernate. I would not prescribe/take it for 2 yrs.

There is some sort of confusion here. It is true that HPV usually clears up over time. However, aciclovir has absolutely no benefit for HPV; it is a treatment for herpes and nothing else. Discuss with your doctor; if uncertainty remains, get a second opinion from a specialist. Good luck.
