A member asked:

Hi there i was wondering if i could catch herpes if someone spat on my shirt then afterwards wipe my mouth? even if they had a cold sore or not. it was wet when i wiped my mouth?

Since Herpes I or II is extremely contagious, contact of any mucosal surface with saliva from a person with active virus may convey infection to the recipient. There is treatment for acute conditions, but essentially Herpes infections are not curable, as in the non-active state, they are intracellular and not affected by antiviral medications.
