Not necessarily: Just like Elavil (amitriptyline) used for headaches, buproprion which is mostly a norepinphrine med can help pain and headache often at lower doses than needed for depression. Depression can make people experience pain more strongly. All pain is felt in the brain despite its origin. I've thought of depression as pain without a peripheral source.
