Less likely an expired Nexplanon can cause pitting edema. Usually, medication can still be used 1-2 years after expiration date. If you have used Nexplanon for a long time, systemic disease which can cause leg edema such as kidney, heart or liver disease needs to be ruled out. Leg venous thrombosis rarely causes bilateral pitting edema of both legs. A late side effect of Nexplanon can be leg edema
