A lot of diseases.. : generally, we think of systemic diseases (heart failure, cirrhoss) causing bilateral edema. those are less likely if it is confined to one leg. conditions that cause it: - Deep Vein Thrombosis (blood clot) - Chronic Venous insufficiency - lymphedema (from surgery or trauma)- edema more often nonpitting there are many more, which is why you must see your doctor and have it evaluated.
