Fatty infiltration of the liver is not normal, and may be the first sign of liver disease. Having said that, it occurs for many reasons, such as diet, alcohol use, medications, lifestyle and more, and usually is not that significant. Losing weight is always beneficial, and you also start with following the liver and testing to make sure that other factors are not causing the infiltration.

Fatty liver can be early sign that liver is under stress. Losing weight and good diet are going to be starting key as long as you don't have other problems with liver disease like alcohol or hepatitis.

Losing weight is imperative. While fatty liver by itself is not dangerous, left untreated through weight reduction, it could progress to hepatitis, fibrosis and cirrhosis. Lose weight and abstain from alcohol. Wish you good health!
