What are the dangers of stopping benzos suddenly?

It depends on the duration, dose, type and indication for benzodiazepines. Withdrawing can be a difficult and dangerous as person is anxious, irritable, unable to sleep, headaches, hand tremor. It is better if gradual dose reduction will prevent grandmas seizures and delirium. Cognitive behavior therapy, meditation, exercise, mindfulness training is useful. Hope it helps.

Sudden discontinuation of benzos (benzodiazepines) can lead to withdrawal, with symptoms like anxiety, sweats, tremors, nausea, and headaches. In more serious cases, withdrawal may involve seizures (which may be life-threatening) or psychosis. The withdrawal severity is affected by the size of the drug dose and how long it’s been used.
