When an ovarian follicle ruptures it releases a small amount of blood into the abdomen. It layers out in the most dependent or lowest available site it reaches and is eventually absorbed/recycled by the body. Other than being irritating to some, it is a simple process that requires no alteration in a persons usual activities.
