A member asked:

What does a absolute lymphocyte count below 1.0k/ul mean? what count is it concerning?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Normal absolute lymphocyte count(ALC) ranges between 1,000/m2 to 15000/m2. Counts between 500 to 1,000 still have intact immune function but ALC below 500 equals impaired immune function and hence an increased risk of infections. These numbers are derived from patients with HIV infections as they evolve into AIDS.
