Some irregularity in timing can happen occasionally in anyone, even those who are usually quite regular. If pregnancy is not an option, other variables like a failure to ovulate that cycle, or other hormonal issues could be at play. You may want to check with your doc if menses does not appear in 6-8 weeks. It is soooo common I would not stress over this.

Menstrual irregularities are not uncommon and anovulatory cycle is a common cause. If you miss more than two periods it would be time to see your doctor. If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time. You may consider implanted contraceptive or an IUD.
