It is possible this is a result of the D and C procedure, combined with a heavy menstrual period. But, if your symptoms persist, or they are getting worse, then call your gyn doctor or go to the emergency room. Hope you feel better real soon!! Good luck!!

Agree with Dr. Ferranti. If the bleeding persists beyond 5 days, see a doctor or go to an ER, In the meantime start taking oral iron and multivitamins to prevent anemia from blood loss. Wish you good health!

If the D&C was performed after a possible miscarriage, retained tissue not removed by the D&C can cause excessive bleeding, clots. Generally one's period will not occur "10 days after" a D&C, so see your gyn provider for an exam and additional testing (ultrasound).

It seems unusual for a period to appear with in 10 days of a D&C, especially being heavy and with clots. It would be appropriate to request an office visit with the surgeon who did the D&C. If that does not occur then I would suggest that you seeing another physician for a second opinion. But check with your insurance company to see if such a second opinion visit would be covered.
