Rule out pregnancy: 44yo, sterilized whose last menses lasted for 3days with complaint of nausea. In view of about 1 percent failure rate in patients who underwent sterlization, the prudent thing to do are as follows: 1. Get a quantitative hcg and if positive, 2. Get a transvaginal ultrasound to confirm any pregancy, location and rule out ectopic pregnancy. Good luck with your doctor.
