Blood sugar: Elevated blood sugar after a meal can be measured at home with a glucose monitor, or assessed by a glucose tolerance test in a lab. Usually a half hour is too soon to test for a reliable measurement at home, and generally 2 hours after a meal is a fair time period to diagnose glucose intolerance.
